Research Associate (Post-doctoral)
An exciting opportunity for a mixed methods researcher has become available to work on a three-year project ‘Decentring the ‘resilient teacher': exploring interactions between individuals and their social ecologies'. The post-holder will seek to identify risk and protective factors across individual and school levels that account for the resilience process. Data collection and analysis will utilise both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The project brings together interdisciplinary expertise from across teacher education and psychology. The successful applicant will work closely with the Dr Steph Ainsworth and Dr Jeremy Oldfield on this project.

About you
Applicants should possess a PhD in Psychology or Education and have experience of research using advanced quantitative method and/or qualitative research using participatory methods. You will also have a proven track-record in research with peer-reviewed publications and reports to reflect this. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team with a proven capacity to deliver work to agreed deadlines. You will be expected to take an appropriate degree of responsibility for key tasks such as data collection, data analysis, report-writing, presentations and publications.
Details about the post
This is a full-time appointment at Research Associate Grade 7 (£32,348) funded until 30th November 2025. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will be based within the School of Teacher Education and Professional Development at MMU, in Manchester. There will be an opportunity to work from home, as appropriate and agreed with the research supervisors.

In recognition of staff contributions to the University's achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff. This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly instalments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
